Rep. Bruce Chandler was among the legislators honored with the “In the Bag” award.

“It's a great honor to be recognized by groups that represent hardworking families and employers,” said Chandler, R-Granger. “These independent, family-owned grocers are crucial to our economy and I will continue to do all I can in the Legislature to support them so they can create meaningful jobs.”

Chris Brown of Wray's Food and Drug in Yakima presented the award to Chandler.

“He's a small business man, so he understands family-owned business and the issues we deal with on a daily basis,” said Brown.

“His heart is with his local businesses, to make sure they have the ability to succeed and create jobs in his community,” said Jan Gee, president and CEO of the Food Industry Association.
